As the state entity tasked with assessing gender equity in multiple issue areas including health, safety, employment, education, and others, the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is uniquely positioned to support local commissions and the direct service providers they work with to ensure that women’s needs are centered in statewide recovery efforts. The Budget Act of 2022 sustained another year of funding for the Women’s Recovery Response to provide local assistance with $5 million in one-time funds. The investment will insert structural support and resources into a network of local commissions and nonprofit service providers while CCSWG continues to act as a statewide convener, facilitator, and oversight administrator. Goal: Strengthen an existing organization’s systems, operations and impact, which may involve human capacity, developmental skill-building, or structural sustainability to improve an organization’s ability to serve the intended target community of local women and girls. Priorities: CCSWG will prioritize awards to organizations that can demonstrate how the funds will support their ability to deliver measurable, positive economic outcomes for women and girls in underserved and disadvantaged communities. CCSWG will be prioritizing grant activities in the following areas, which may include, but are not limited to: · Improved access and affordability of child and/or elder care services · Increased utilization and uptake of safety-net programs that offer services to support basic needs such as shelter, food, clothing, etc. · Achieved reskilling/upskilling through accreditation, certification, or vocational or educational programs · Enhanced financial ability to grow economic security, assets, and wealth building Intermediary organizations that will be re-granting funds are eligible to apply for up to $250,000. All other organizations are eligible to apply for funding up to $100,000.
